How to access Creffield Medical Centre

If you have not yet received your flu vaccination please telephone the surgery to arrange an appointment with the Nurse or Healthcare Assistant.

Changes to our appointment system - please read

Over the summer months we have had to make some changes to our appointment system in order to provide a safe service for our patients.  Unfortunately due to annual leave and a shortage of locum Doctor availability we have not been able to provide patients with the ability to book appointments in advance.  We have instead aimed to provide a greater number of appointments available on the day.  We understand that this has caused some difficulties for our patients and we apologise for this.  We are hoping to be able to offer the availability of advanced appointment booking again soon.

We have introduced a new Duty Doctor system.  If you telephone the surgery and we are unable to offer you an appointment on the day you will be placed on our triage list.  A clinician will then telephone you back as soon as possible and discuss your query over the telephone.  They will be able to provide advice, arrange blood tests and investigations if needed, and arrange for any prescriptions to be sent to your usual pharmacy over the telephone.  They will also be able to arrange for you to be seen if necessary.  While every effort will be made to arrange an appointment for you at Layer Road surgery you may be asked to travel to Creffield Medical Centre or North Hill Medical Group to be seen.

Since the merge with Creffield Medical Centre and North Hill Medical Group we have been working on plans to extend the appointment availability for our patients to include appointments on a Saturday morning.  The clinics will be held at Creffield Medical Centre every Saturday and will allow patients to see Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.  Our reception team will be able to offer these appointments to you as soon as they are available.

We are currently welcoming new patients.  Please attend the surgery to complete your registration paperwork - once completed please allow two working days for your registration to be actioned.  If you would like a New Patient Health Check with our Healthcare Assistant once registered, please let our receptionists know and this will be booked for you. When registering, please bring with you photo I.D and proof of address.  If you are registering a child under 16 years old, please bring their birth certificate and their red baby book in order for reception to take a copy.  Thank you

Prescription requests

To order your repeat prescription please do one of the following: Come into the surgery and hand your request to a receptionist or post it through the letterbox; email your request to NEECCG.layerroadsurgery@nhs.net; order online via SystmOnline (if you would like your login details for the online service, please speak to reception).  Please note we do not take prescription requests over the telephone.

Please allow two working days for your prescription to be processed.  E.G, if your request comes to us on a Monday morning, it will be ready to collect on a Wednesday morning.

Travel Vaccinations

It is important to make the initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 8 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not stock vaccines. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE SURGERY IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT, IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES LATE, YOU RUN THE RISK OF NOT BEING SEEN.
